Should Kids Use Mr. & Mrs. or Are They a Thing of the Past?

More and more children are calling adults by their first name. It always surprises me when a kid calls me by my first name. My parents taught me that adults were always to be addressed as Mr., Mrs. or Ms. If I didn't, I was in big trouble.

My kids have taken to calling my friends by their first names. I don't recall correcting them or trying to change that. I think they hear their dad and me calling them by their first name so they do too. My friends' kids call me by my first name and most of my sons' friends address me as "Colby's Mom." Of course, teachers are still Mrs. and Mr., that is something I don't see changing anytime soon.

Do you still teach your kids to use titles like Mr. and Mrs.? Do you consider that to be part of basic manners? Is it really important?
