A principal in Newton, MA decided to eliminate candy, treats and other snacks from Valentine's Day. The principal said that passing out candy and treats goes against the school's rule of no food sharing. According to the e-mail sent home to parents, last year the school was overwhelmed with candy and treats, saying the "amount of candy made for a long day at school."
They are trying to encourage children to eat healthy and lots of candy isn't in line with this healthy education. The school suggested that families send gifts like stickers, school supplies, bookmarks or crafts instead of candy.
What do you think of this rule? Should all schools ban candy and treats or should they let kids have one day to indulge?
