We are super excited about our new Mom on the Move, Melissa Meifert. She is sharing a little about herself with us.

Tell us about your family: I have been married to my best friend, Drew, for the past 8 years. We have a daughter, Abigail (7), a son, Jack (5) and a baby girl due in late October.

Tell us about your business: I am the co-owner of Just Between Friends of Colorado Springs, which is a franchise for the Nation's Leading Children's and Maternity Consignment Sales Event. We hold 2 sales a year, in the spring and the fall, at the Event Center at Rustic Hills. We sell gently used children's items, furniture and clothing size birth through junior sizes, as well as maternity clothing. We also benefit, in part, the Peterson AFB Airman's Attic. It has been an enormous blessing to see what JBF does for the families of the Colorado Springs area. It is such a privilege to be a part of JBF.

What is the most rewarding thing about being a mom? Just being a mother is the most rewarding part for me. Having children was difficult for me and they are my miracles. Every day with them is a blessing and having the privilege to be at home with them every day and see joy in their faces is the ultimate reward for me. I was raised by a single mother who was not able to be home with me, so having this privilege thrills me!

What is the most rewarding thing about being a Mom on the Move? It is such an honor to be called a Mom on the Move. Just being asked to be a Mom on the Move is the reward and being able to share with other moms in similar situations.

What is your biggest challenge as a mom? My biggest challenge as a mom is the guilt factor. I often say that the day my daughter was born, a wave of guilt came over me. I want to be there for my children 24/7 and be room mom and bring homemade treats to school for all the holidays and sew costumes and drive every field trip and make their birthday cakes, but I tell myself daily that if I buy treats at the store or order a cake from Costco, I am still a good mother. Now, as a working mother, I have had to adjust to the silent treatment from my children when I get home from a JBF event and realize that working to provide for my children does not make me a bad mommy. I am there 99% of the time and everything I do is to make a better life for them. I have had to learn that they will be okay if I am not there every moment and my best effort is good enough.

What are your mom shortcuts or tips? A Crockpot...I use it as often as possible...at least once or twice a week. Dinner is a daily stress for me and the crockpot eliminates that stress. I organize my life to a fault at times but it relieves my stress. I plan dinners for a month at a time which makes my life much easier. There are no surprises in the dinner department!

Organic lollipops!!! I buy them at Vitamin Cottage or Whole Foods. They are made out of carrots, beets, currants and other vegetables. They taste great and my kids think they are getting sugar. They are my secret weapon when I need a bribe for a quiet phone call in the car or an easy trip into the grocery store.

What is your favorite children's book? I have so many...Stellaluna, Charlotte's Web, Peter Rabbit and The Hungry Caterpillar are a few of them.

What is your favorite book for moms? Making Work at Home Work by Mary M. Byers...it is great to relieve the guilt and make things run smoother.

Make sure to check out Just Between Friends for good deals on kid's stuff!
