Our newest Mom on the Move is Marina Stillman, she is a business owner and dance instructor at Zamuel Ballet School. She knows about maneuvering through the medical system and running a business. We're so glad to "introduce" her to you.
Tell us about your family:
· I have been married to my soul mate for almost 12 years. We have 2 wonderful kids: Danny 11, and Vickie 9
Tell us about your business:
· My husband and I own a business "Maui Tropical Soaps" Its originally been run out of state of Hawaii, but when our little girl turned 5, we found out that she has type 1 Diabetes, and were advised by her endocrinologist to move back to the mainland for better medical care. That's what we did in 2008. Not going to lie, it's been challenging to move entire manufacture in the middle of recession. Here, in Colorado, we were able to find lost support and excellent medical care for our little Victoria. In 2009 I joined Zamuel Ballet School. I love teaching, I think it's my calling.
What is the most rewarding thing about being a mom:
· I think just being a Mom is the most wonderful and rewarding thing in a world. Getting a hug from my 11 year old and telling me that he missed me, when I only been gone to the grocery store for 2 hours. Seeing my daughter performing Clara in a Nutcracker, gives me goose bumps. Those are things Moms live for.
What is the most rewarding thing about being a mom on the move?
· Mom on the Move - I think all Moms are always moving, staying busy, catching up on things. We are rarely "Moms on the couch"
What is your biggest challenge being a mom?
· As a Mom, I want to do so many things with my kids. Unfortunately my day is only made out of 24 hours. Cloning? So there is one of me for every kid and my husband.
What are some of your mom shortcuts or tips you could share with us?
· William Sonoma sauces. They are awesome. The make the stew or any dish tastes yummy, with a little preparation. It's nice to have a variety in a pantry, you never know what you would feel like eating that day, and since I was never good at planning a meal in advance. It also helps that my Husband loves to cook.
What is your favorite book for kids or teens?
· Of course my daughter is in love with everything that "American Girl". My son's favorite "Warriors" books, and anything that says "Lego"
What is your favorite adult book?
· I just love Jennifer Weiner's book. Great for bath time reading. Just try not to drop a library book in the tub... (done it)
