Sometimes I feel like we talk about car seat safety until we are blue in the face, yet always reading news about infants and toddlers not properly restrained in car accidents. Well late Thursday morning, at the intersection of Dublin and Rangewood in Colorado Springs, a 13 month old was saved by her car seat. Police on scene said that the car seat essentially saved this little girl's life.
The 27-year-old monther suffered minor injuries during the accident and was taken to the hospital to be treated for back pain. According to sources the baby was smiling and seemed completely fine after the crash, and she was still safely secured in her car seat.
Police are still investigating what caused the rollover but an officer on scene said that typically a crash like this is caused by someone running a red light. At this point police are not sure if any tickets will be issued because of conflicting witness reports.
Police recommend that parents or caregivers also put children of any age in a car seat or booster seat.
