The advent of the ultrasound has made the old wives' tales predicting a baby's gender a little less common, but it's still fun to try to guess what the new baby's going to be. Whether or not there's any truth to the predictions is anyone's guess; when I was pregnant with my son most people were predicting with great certainty that I had a girl on the way.

The methods range from simple to funny to weird, like the one where you mix a tablespoon of Drano with your urine, it will turn green for a girl and blue for a boy. There's the ever-popular theory that girls steal their mother's beauty, so if you're feeling particularly unattractive or heavy you may have a daughter. A woman carrying high and large = girl; low and small = boy.

What wives' tales have you heard about predicting a baby's gender? Did any of them prove true for you?
