I like to think I am secure as a mom, but when I am honest with myself I'm really not. We all know that is practically impossible not to do the mom comparison game. Many times I leave conversations with moms having to talk myself down from comments that are made. I have to convince myself I misunderstood.
Sasha Brown-Worsham of the Stir wrote a great article listing 8 of the Meanest Things Moms Say to Each Other. Below you will find some of her and some of mine. What are yours?
I am a "Full Time Mom" : What is the alternative? If you are a mom, you are a mom full time. This includes if you are divorced. Just because your child spends days with dad, doesn't mean you aren't a mom anymore.
I stay home so I can raise my own kids: Stay at home moms rock, but as a working mom I have to say I also raise my kids.
I had my baby naturally: Ok, I get that "natural childbirth" is a phrase used to mean drug free, but this implies that because I had an epidural I didn't have my baby naturally. I did, I carried him for 9 months and gave birth to him.
You must love to work so you can get some time to yourself: Ummm, yeah, that's exactly why I work. I work because I have to and because I have a career. Time to myself? Not so much.
I don't know how you travel without your kids, don't you miss them? Nope, never. Of course I miss my child when I travel, I also take my child on many trips. I have to take care of myself too.
