Have you thought of exposing your kids to the arts, but don't know how? You should really check out Monart. Monart offers a large variety of classes for kids. Check out their Fall Schedule here! Classes start next week.
What are the benefits of exposing my child to art? Here are just a few.
Through art, children can learn to think creatively from a young age. Young children are already highly creative, but art can help them push their boundaries and continue thinking outside the box as they grow into adulthood. Plus, many children enjoy art and feel a sense of accomplishment from creating something on their own.
Expression
1. Through art, children have the opportunity to express themselves more fully. Art gives children a way of expressing things that they might have difficulty expressing in words, and it can allow them to express who they are to others.
Accomplishment
2. Art can build feelings of accomplishment and self-worth by allowing children to use their individual talents. If a child doesn't excel at other school subjects yet, using her artistic talents can show her that she has her own abilities--and it might even help her try harder in other areas because she feels less frustrated about school in general.
Therapy
3. Art can be therapeutic, helping children to work through emotional issues that trouble them. An art therapist or counselor can facilitate this process, and you can also talk with a child about what he drew to help him discuss it more openly.
Learning
4. Children can learn about any subject through art. If teaching them about nature, you could help them to create artwork with natural materials they find on a nature hike.
Improving School Performance
5. Students who take art classes also tend to do better in other areas of school, as art boosts their verbal and numerical skills.
Other Benefits
6. Abrakadoodle.com points out that art has many other benefits for children, including building cognitive skills, problem solving abilities, fine motor skills, language skills and the ability to focus and listen. Exposing children to a wide range of art techniques can help develop these skills while helping them to succeed in school and life.
