We all make parenting mistakes at one time or another. However, if we are aware of what we are doing and try to correct our mistakes, we will help our kids in the long run. Don't feel like you have ruined your children if you mess up a time or two. Recently there was an article "Six Ways to Ruin Your Children" that made me more aware of how I was parenting. • Give in - No matter what your children want, they get it. Don't give them everything. Kids need to learn how to earn things and value money and hard work. Help them learn about spending and earning money.
• Lack of Discipline - Many parents just ignore a child who is acting up. They don't want to be the "mean" parent. Others just don't know how to correctly discpiline their kids. Children need boundaires and rules. They need consequences. Parents need to set these rules and consequences and stick with them.
• Set a Bad Example - Cutting in line, lying, saying curse words are all bad examples for kids. Parents should be what they want their kids to be. You make the biggest impressions on your children. They are always paying attention. Mistakes happen and that is the time to talk with your kids about why you messed up and how you can fix it.
